Las Vegas Raiders' biggest roster needs entering day two of 2024 NFL Draft
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders had one heck of a first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Then again, a lot of teams did, too. The draft was insane, as so many crazy and unexpected things happened, such as the Raiders landing probably the best player in the entire draft. They took tight end Brock Bowers, No. 13 overall.

Tight end was not at the top of their list of needs. However, the way the draft board fell, with six of the 12 picks in front of them all being quarterbacks, the Raiders couldn't pass on the best player available. Bowers won't be considered the best player in the draft because he doesn't play the most important position or even the second or third most important. He's pretty far down the food chain.

However, when he was in college at Georgia, he was by far the most unstoppable. The Raiders now have two young, great tight ends. But two tight ends are perfect in new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy's system. The offense was also the worst part of their team last season. So, in a way, it addressed a need while also matching the best player available strategy.

I'd say the Raiders had a successful day. But their work isn't done at all. They still have two more days left and six more rounds. Here is where the work really starts getting put in. The Raiders, as things currently stand, have seven picks left, and they have several needs left to address.

Here are their remaining needs entering day two of the 2024 NFL Draft:

Raiders' biggest needs on day two of 2024 NFL Draft

Quarterback
(Spencer Rattler, Jordan Travis, Joe Milton)

It all started at pick No. 8. The Atlanta Falcons were on the clock and about to do the craziest thing we had seen in years. After giving Kirk Cousins a huge contract in free agency, which is fully guaranteed through 2025, they decided they should draft quarterback Michael Penix at No. 8.

The Raiders could not trade up for QB Jayden Daniels, who went No. 2 overall to the Washington Commanders, as most of us thought he would. Their next or top prospect, I should say, was Penix, as quarterback is their biggest need. Obviously, they didn't address it, so I think they should do so on day two.

Cornerback
(Kool-Aid McKinstry, Cooper DeJean, Kamari Lassiter)

When the Raiders were up to pick at No. 13, Quinyon Mitchell and Terrion Arnold were staring them right in the face. They were the two best cornerbacks in this draft. Now, they still have their pick of the litter, as only a few cornerbacks went in the first round.

They have guys like Jack Jones and Nate Hobbs, who are now established in this league. But they need more. They need depth and another guy who can develop into a potential Pro Bowler. They need a guy who can play like the Raiders of old used to. Luckily for them, this draft is super deep at cornerback, so they will have their chance.

Offensive tackle
(Kingsley Suamataia, Patrick Paul)

Now, the offensive tackle was a deep position in this class, but deep as in the first round, we will have a lot of them. And it did. Seven offensive tackles were taken in the first round, which is the position with the most taken in the first round this draft. But there are still some really good guys left.

The Raiders currently have Thayer Munford holding down the right tackle spot, and that's just not ideal. They need a right tackle. Because of the massive talent dropoff, I expect them to potentially target one with their first pick on day two.

The Raiders have other smaller needs, too, but these three are by far the biggest. They address these on day two; they will be set heading into day three. So far, they are already doing a good job.
