‘Ready to welcome him’: Struggling but ‘important’ United star has numerous suitors lining up for his signature

On a day where Erik ten Hag has publicly affirmed his faith in Casemiro, reports have suggested that Manchester United are willing to part ways with him this summer.

Truthfully, it won’t come as a surprise to many fans if the club decide to cut ties after what’s been nothing short of a severely underwhelming campaign from the midfielder.

Not only has Casemiro become significantly more injury-prone by missing 18 matches in all competitions through fitness complaints, but he’s seemingly fallen victim to a classic case of, ‘his legs have gone’.

Almost every time that the 32-year-old has featured this term, it’s resulted in supporters claiming that he’s past it. He simply cannot match prolific attackers in pace so frequently results in him lunging into reckless challenges, often earning himself needless bookings.

Casemiro’s drop in form has led to his future being a heavily debated topic, although he does still have the backing of his manager – to the press, anyway. Erik ten Hag said of the veteran in his press conference today: “I’m very confident about him, he’s a fighter, that’s why he won the big trophies. He’s a personality and he’s a very important player for us and, as I say, he will give us success.”

Casemiro has plenty of suitors in Saudi

Nevertheless, reports in Brazil from UOL suggest that United will allow Casemiro to leave to ensure they recuperate some of the £70 million fee they paid for him back in 2022. They do not want him to leave as a free agent when his contract, which sees him earn £350,000 per week, expires in 2026.

Saudi Arabian clubs are ‘ready to welcome him’, and there’s no doubt they’d propose a lucrative deal to see the five-time Champions League winner pull the curtains on his European career.
