Mario Balotelli feels that Inter Milan are “too strong” for AC Milan this season.

Speaking on the Controcalcio podcast, via FCInterNews, the former Nerazzurri, Rossoneri, and Manchester City striker also weighed in on the controversy surrounding a banner waved by Denzel Dumfries.

This season, Inter clinched the Serie A title by beating city rivals Milan in the derby.

This was the sixth time in a row that the Nerazzurri had won the derby.

And it was the first time that either they or the Rossoneri had made the derby into the decisive match in clinching the Serie A title.

It was a match that saw Inter stretch their lead into the table to seventeen points over their city rivals – it is now nineteen.

Balotelli: Inter “Too Strong” For AC Milan

Former Italy international Balotelli gave the view that “Inter are just too strong for Milan.”

“They didn’t win the title with someone who scored fifty goals on his own,” the former Inter striker noted.

“They owe everything to the style of play of the team and the players.”

“Simone Inzaghi is absolutely a big factor,” Balotelli continued. “But also, the Inter players are just on another level to the Milan ones.”

“If we we were to make a starting eleven out of the two teams, it would just be the Nerazzurri starting eleven without any changes.”

Meanwhile, Balotelli also gave his thoughts on a banner waved by Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries during the Nerazzurri’s title parade.

The banner in question mocks AC Milan wingback Theo Hernandez.

“I think that banner is brilliant,” Balotelli said.

“Banter is a part of football. That’s the beauty of it.”

“If I were Theo Hernandez I would’ve been annoyed by it,” said Balotelli. “But it’s part of football.”

“If Milan had won the title, he probably would’ve done the same thing.”

Balotelli gave the view that “I think the limit for this kind of thing is at race and religion.”

“But if the mockery is just kept to stuff on the pitch? It’s fine,” he argued.

“It goes too far when it becomes a personal insult, or aimed at someone’s family.”

“And then I have to say that Hakan Calhanoglu is a real gentleman,” added Balotelli. “If I’d been in his position… I don’t know what I would have done.”

Calhanoglu had received some harsh mockery from former Milan teammates when the Rossoneri won the title in 2022.
