Diogo Jota scored the 50th goal of his Liverpool career to seal a 2-0 win at Burnley on Boxing Day.

Jota had missed Liverpool's previous eight games with a hamstring injury but he looked sharp after coming off the bench in the 84th minute at Turf Moor.

The Portugal forward came on for Darwin Nunez, who had earlier fired the Reds into a sixth-minute lead with a low strike from 20 yards.

Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott had goals disallowed before Jota wrapped up a deserved away victory in added time.

Jota collected a neat pass from Luis Diaz before drilling a low shot past James Trafford from a narrow angle.

Burnley keeper Trafford had earlier proven difficult to beat, making eight saves.

Liverpool's win on Boxing Day took Jurgen Klopp's men top of the Premier League table.

But Arsenal can regain top spot by beating West Ham on Thursday night.
